Derek Dahl grew up in a small town in Northern, WI. He was able to observe his grandfather, father, and uncle as they built a thriving family business. A business that exists to this day. After experiencing first-hand the hard work, dedication, and relationships his family built, Derek knew he would pursue a business career. He wanted to make his own path in an industry that could make an impact for generations.
After receiving his degree in marketing, Derek was fortunate to meet Eric Guth and was introduced to a career as a Financial Advisor. Derek continues to work with Eric and the extended team, all these years later. Long-term, trusting relationships are a cornerstone to great teams and to client relationships. Derek started as a representative in 1999 with a National Carrier and spent many years building a clientele with a Servant Leadership focus. Derek was then appointed to leadership roles, where he continued to serve his clients and focused on growing the team, and mentoring others in this impactful industry.
Along the way Derek has received numerous advisor and leadership awards for production, quality business and service to his clients, from both GAMA International and the National Carrier he represented.
Derek earned his LUTCF, and CLF designations through the American College, and his CMFC designation through the College for Financial Planning. Derek is a student of leadership, industry best practices, and invests a great deal of time being a student of this industry.
He met his wonderful wife, Alicia, in college and they married in 2003. Together, they have 3 sons (Elliot ‘06, Gavin ‘08, Owen ‘12). He and Alicia greatly enjoy their children’s activities. He does find time for upland bird hunting with the family German Shorthaired Pointer “Annie” and boating on nice WI summer days. One day he will take the time and get back to playing golf on a regular basis, a sport he truly enjoys.
Derek thrives while assisting in the growth of his advisors and ultimately the clients they serve. Derek is optimistic about the industry, the work ahead and plans to be serving clients for many years. He’s optimistic of a future partnership with one or more of his children, if they take an interest in this work it would be the most fulfilling mentorship opportunity. Time will tell.
