My education has been mostly in the Southern Oregon area: Medford Senior High, Southern Oregon College BS (now SOU), University of Oregon MS, Ed.
After college, I did a short stint in the USAF and then spent ten years in the education sector in Douglas County – as a teacher for four years and as an administrator for six years. I worked for Todd Building Company for 12 years – as a Project Coordinator for two years and then coordinating change orders across the company using a system I had developed. In the mid 1980s, the company moved to Portland. I wanted to stay in Roseburg so that is when I made my start in the insurance business.
I have had considerable experience with the sport of tennis, playing on my college team and serving on the Umpqua Tennis Club Board of Directors for many years (as President, as Chair of many tournaments, as Vice President of the Pacific Northwest Tennis Association., as Chair of the Schedule & Sanction Committee and Chair of the Ranking Committee). I Co-Chaired the building of six additional courts, including three new indoor courts. The Jaycees was also a very good experience when I was teaching and gave me numerous opportunities to head up projects. As a member of the YMCA, I was on the Board of Directors for about 20 years, serving as president and as the Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee. I was on the Board of Directors and served as President of ADAPT (Association for Drug and Alcohol Prevention and Treatment).
My work and community experiences have given me the opportunity to form personal and professional relationships with many business leaders in Douglas County. Through them, I have learned about the need for good business insurance and sound retirement planning, and I look forward to developing customized solutions that meet the unique needs of my clients.
